Phones, smartwatches, computers and glasses
Damage to phones, smartwatches, computers and glasses is among the most common types of claims reported to us. That’s why it’s important to make sure these essential items are insured.

Insurance
-
Home insurance includes contents insurance. Contents insurance covers phones, smartwatches, computers and glasses against fire, theft and water damage.
-
If your home insurance includes comprehensive contents insurance, which is optional, your phones, smartwatches, computers and glasses are also covered against damage caused by sudden, unexpected and external events.
-
If you own particularly valuable phones, smartwatches, computers or glasses whose value exceeds the compensation limits under comprehensive contents insurance, please contact us so we can review your options together.
-
Travel insurance is an optional cover available with home insurance. It includes luggage insurance, which covers damage to your luggage while it is being transported, or if it is stolen during your trip.
Good to know
-
Under our insurance policies, items such as phones, smartwatches, computers and glasses are classified as household contents.
-
Phones and smartwatches are depreciated over two years, while computers are depreciated over five years.
-
With home insurance, you can choose between two different sums insured and three different deductibles. The sum insured you select determines the maximum compensation payable in the event of a claim. The higher the deductible, the lower your insurance premium, but the more you will have to pay yourself if you make a claim.
-
Home insurance covers you, your spouse or cohabiting partner, and your unmarried children and foster children who share the same legal residence in Iceland. It also covers your children under the age of 18 who have a different legal residence in Iceland.
-
The main advantage of having both credit card travel insurance and travel insurance through your Home insurance is that if the maximum compensation under one policy is reached, the other policy may provide additional compensation in the event of an extensive loss.
-
We recommend keeping your payment receipts so you can provide them if you need to make a claim.
