Ökuvísir privacy policy
Ökuvísir is an insurance program in vehicle insurance where policyholders at VÍS tryggingar hf. (VÍS), Ármúli 3, 108 Reykjavik, tel. +354 560 5000, reg. no. 690689-2009 get access to a custom app and a telematics device that incentivise them to drive well, giving policyholders the opportunity to influence the premiums they pay for compulsory vehicle insurance and comprehensive vehicle insurance (hereinafter the "insurance"; the insurance program is hereinafter referred to as "Ökuvísir"). VÍS is the data controller that is the responsible for the processing of the personal data created when using the app.
In Ökuvísir, you get access to a custom app and a telematics device that incentivise you to drive well, thus affecting the price you pay for compulsory vehicle insurance and comprehensive vehicle insurance. The app collects information about your driving behaviour and gives it a rating based on how safe you are as a driver. With Ökuvísir, VÍS, in collaboration with its customers, intends to improve traffic culture and reduce traffic accidents.
You have the option of trying the app for 14 days before you decide whether to purchase insurance through Ökuvísir. After you install the app on your smart device, measurements start automatically at the beginning of each journey.
If you decide to purchase the insurance after the trial period, you will receive the Ökuvísir telematics device, which you attach to the window of the vehicle. The telematics device is a chip and together it and the app measure your driving behaviour and kilometres driven.
