Group accident insurance for athletes

Group accident insurance for athletes covers the athletes of the sports club that is the policyholder. The insurance applies to accidents that the athletes suffer during training sessions or compe­titions organised by their sports club. It is also possible to add medical expenses abroad to the insurance.

The insurance covers

Accident Insurance

  • If an insured person has an accident while participating in sports, benefits are paid. These may include daily benef­its, compensation for permanent disa­bility, compensation for dental fract­ure, and death benef­its.

Medical Expenses Abroad (opti­onal)

  • If an insured person is injured, falls ill, or dies while on a compe­tition trip abroad, benefits are paid. These may include medical expenses, emer­gency dental pain relief, and tran­sportation back home.

The insurance does not cover

Accident Insurance

  • Accidents that occurred before the insurance entered into force, and no consequ­ences of such accidents, even if they do not become apparent until after the insurance has entered into force.

  • Damage to teeth that are broken while the insured is eating.

Medical Expenses Abroad (opti­onal)

  • Costs paid under a reciprocal health insurance agreement.

  • Costs of treatment or follow-up treatment in Iceland or in the country of stay.
