International Luggage Insurance

When we travel, underlinewe take with us various valuable items. Luggage Insurance Abroad compensates for damage to your luggage if it is lost or damaged in transit or if the luggage is stolen during the trip.

More about International Luggage Insurance

The insurance is only valid if general care is taken in safeguarding the items, for example by locking residences and closing windows, not leaving items in public places and by transporting them in appropriate and adequate packaging. If your residence is broken into, the insurance is only valid if there are signs of a burglary. In such cases, the damage notification must be accompanied by a police report.

The compensation amount for the items is a percentage of the value of the contents listed in your Contents Insurance. You can use the contents calculator to find out the average value of contents based on size of family and housing. If the size of your family or home changes, we recommend reviewing and updating the registered contents value.

The insurance covers

  • Damage to luggage due to fire.
  • Loss of luggage due to theft from houses, automobiles, mobile homes and boats.
  • Loss of luggage due to robbery.
  • Damage to luggage due to transportation accidents.
  • Luggage if it is completely lost in transit.
  • Vandalism of luggage.

The insurance does not cover

  • Damage to fragile items that are in suitcases.
  • Damage to suitcases and protective bags.
  • Damage to items that are scratched, dented or squashed if it does not impair the usability of the item.
  • Damage to items that are torn or damaged during use, such as clothing, skis and other sports equipment.
